This is my only experience with carving a mountain man, a bearded, rustic character. It is carved in Cottonwood Bark, 3” x 9” – and was done in a class at a woodcarver’s event in Spokane, WA.

-- Phil Allin - There are mountain climbers and people who talk about climbing mountains. The climbers have "selfies" at the summit!

”This is my only experience with carving a mountain man,” well as I see it you are off to a good running start, job well done.

Well, I said that because I’m not really interested in carving mountain men, wood spirits, etc. You’ll not find many in my Projects.

I like it! I did a grape leaf green man like in Lora Irish’s book. That was early in my my wood carving journey. Not sure I’ll be doing more of them, FWIW. I think that they look cool, but it’s like a lot of things, once tried and then left behind.
