At least it’s made from firewood. Good ol’ Texas old growth mesquite. Approx. 18” x 12” x 10” with a lift out tray.

Custom order from a couple I met at a recent craft fair. The only ones who have ever made good on their “I’ll get back with you.” promise.

Just a simple sewing box for their soon-to-be daughter-in-law who recently got her Masters in Mechanical Engineering (hence the cog wheels).May end up with more orders if they like this one enough.

Comments and critiques welcomed as always. Thanx for looking.

I totally love that. I never knew mesquite looked so amazing. You’ve also shown me a new technique for supporting the lift out tray. Thank You.

Thanx for the nice comments, guys.

Mesquite is a very underappreciated wood. When I was turning pens I started with the high dollar imported stuff but quickly decided that was a losing proposition. So, I started looking at local wood found some really nice mesquite and went from there. The key to this is finding an affordable source for larger pieces since many sawyers think it’s made of gold. :(

Have your say...
