birch log votives

just finished up some christmas gifts,votives made from 3.5”-5” birch logs drilled out with a 2” forstner bit to hold the glass votive jar.the base is from mahogany scraps with a ogee profile.rubber bumpers on the base.these are 5” tall.finish is just rattle can minwax polycrylic,3 coats.all comments or questions are welcome.

Man, you did a great job. I can’t believe how real you made those logs look ;)
I wish I had some Birch logs, those would make great gifts.

I wish I had some Birch logs, those would make great gifts.

its easy i got em online,there sold as decorative logs for fireplaces,i got five logs about 20” long 3.5”-5” diameter,that gave me 15 votives about 5”-7” tall.cost was about 37 bucks.

Good job Pottzy go with throttle up there!
Now I think I have seen a few lying around you know who’s farm.

I /we made a couple of hundred over 3 days for my friends wedding table centerpieces
I did much the same process but had to make the holes larger with a router. I will see if I can find some pictures for you.

thanks boys.did you say a couple hundred? i only made 15 and that is enough! did you make wood bases for yours and spray them with 3 coats,and put rubber feet on the bottom and burn your logo on each one? just checking if were comparing apple for apple boys-or is it kangaroo to wallabee-lol.

Pottz, you very correct those are gifts that are very well received. I’ve done them and found they work real well with those battery operated candle lights as well. The Ladies really love such things.
