Birdhouses from pallets
and giving a helping hand.

This is a classic, birdhouses, a project that always make me happy to make.
It’s a simple easy beginner project, but also a rewarding project, where you can park your brain for a few hours and just enjoy working wood and imagine the life, that will come in these little houses.

The reason these bird houses came to life, was the fact that someone had left a pallet in front of an antique shop situated in the house I live, the owner is really old and living in the shop, so I felt sorry for him as he can hardly walk and had no chance to remove it. I decided to solve his problem.

This post is from the blog:

1. Birdhouses from pallets.
2. Reclaiming the wood.
3. You can’t have too many claps.
4. 30° cuts.
5. Assembly.
6. Entrance time. ;-)

I’ll make a follow up, once they are installed in the spring.

Hope it can be to some inspiration or even better homes for little birds.

Best thoughts,

Always nice to know that that the birds are being taken care of Mads. My wife feeds them from late fall to early spring. It always amuses me to see her furiously waving her arms at the magpies to scare them away from the food hanging on our cherry tree so the smaller birds can get to it.

That should make the birds happy this winter. My wife just had me put out the bird feeder for the winter season this morning. I suppose they will be find it and be flocking to in in a few hours. I wonder how long they will take to find those cozy winter quarters?

Lew. If you want big happy birdies you need to build a 3000 sq ft. house with all the trimmings and on and on.

Excellent job on building the bird houses…..Different styles to suit different birds…..Like us, the birds have got to have somewhere to live, too…..!! And there is nothing wrong with getting free wood to do projects….!!!

Hi there,
Rick Dennington, Smiles thanks, yes the birds have different favorite houses, defined by hole size / opening, dimension and how deep the box is, I used a guide I found online, to get different sizes and types, that would fit the Danish garden birds. Double the joy, when the wood is free and should have been removed as trash.
woodshaver Tony C, Thank you Tony.
doubleDD, smiles, now we have to see if the birds gets happy also… I’m a wee worried because, a stone marten has been living at my attic, but I think I got rid of it now.
drewpy, impossible not to enjoy building birdhouses (unless if you do it for a living perhaps – laughs).
Brit, smiles Andy, it was three pallets, but you saw that in the blog by now. :-D Thanks my friend.
Madts, big laugh, yes especially in you want happy birdie-s, other wise they might start fighting…
Lew, thanks, is perhaps they even need a real estate broker, to choose hose now… smiles.
TopamaxSurvivor, nice wife you have, it’s so rewarding to watch them little birds fly in for a snack. Sadly I close down the allotment for the winter, so they will have to wait for spring time. If non of my houses are used, I’ll make advertisement in the local paper… :-D
Ivan, I hope they will be happy and little birds will leave the nest this summer. :-) cheers my friend!
stefang, I love the images you put in my head here, big laugh. We need more people like your wife. Warm thoughts go to Norway.
Thank you for the comments, smiles and thoughts.
