Project Information

This is a small pot I turned today instead of discarding this pretty piece of wood. It is curly something or other and this is the only piece there was so when I hollowed it from the bottom, I put in a piece of cherry for the bottom. I guess it could be a small weed pot.

It is 3 1/2" in diameter and 3" high and finished with EEE and Shellawax.

After this the shop was all cleaned up and closed for the rest of the year. We'll be in Arizona next week for the winter. I'll be joining the Southern Arizona Wood Turners Association in Tucson this winter to keep in touch with some turners.

Cheers, Jim

Thank you all for the nice comments on this little piece. I may put a walnut finial on it when I get home.

Have a happy Thanksgiving today!! I know I am very thankful for this site and the expedient way Cricket manages it. Thanks, Cricket.

Hi Bob, the elves are just moving to a different shop with some really nice wood.

Cheers, Jim

That is a interesting piece of wood Jim. Nice work on it. Every time I hear weed pot I think of a different weed.
Seems like you're headed for Arizona early this year. The elves must of lost their long underwear.

I spent some time with a local wood turner at the recent craft show and discussed a lot about lathe work. He is well published and I may just catch the bug 8^)

The work look excellent Jim, that first one makes me think of a belly button lint jar I remember seeing, just yours is way more refined 8^)

I suspect mesquite will be to wood of choice for the next few months?

Once you find out how nice the grain is I know you can't wait to get a finish on it to make the grain pop! Beautiful little bowl Jim!
