This is a firewood box I just finished up for a co-worker and his wife. I pretty much did this on the fly with my own hints of Greene and Greene. It stands 18” tall and is 36” long by 24” wide. The wood is garapa with walnut plugs with a coat of dark walnut Danish oil. Garapa is also called Brazilian ash, and is similar to ipe in hardness and density, but more of a honey color.

Looks great…maybe too nice for firewood! Seriously, you did a great job.

Thanks BB1! I had a feeling I was making it nicer than expected just for firewood, but I was happy with the final results. Plus, this wood (garapa), is nearly bulletproof and can stand up to just about any kind of abuse.

Stellar job on the firewood box. Like was said by BB1 that’s way too nice for a firewood box. But you did a very nice job, and was a good jesture for a co-worker…..!! I have never heard of the wood you used, but it’s beautiful.
