Hi All The box is made of box elder , walnut and epoxy. The sides are made from some wormy box elder that I had.

I put some little led lights around the perimeter of the bottom that lights up the epoxy. I have a new appreciation
for all you guys and girls that make boxes with nice joint work etc. I have some toungue and groove joints on ther side panels but the others are just butt joints. I was a bit pressed for time to get this to my daughter as a med school graduation gift. I would have liked to have had the lid hinged as opposed to just lift off butt I found it tough to figure that out with the design I had used. Maybe in the future…. comments and critique welcome :) thanks Rick

I second that.

Box elder and walnut, jeez, what an awesome combo. The live edge tray divider is very original, I am stealin that one——-maybe. Oh, and the handles on the top, also very original, love it.

What is the mechanism to turn the lights on/off?

Very cool design, does it plug in or is it battery operated?

Everything about this box is a staggering concept in ” out of the box ” thinking and execution.
Kudos to you sirthinkalot

thanks for the comments guys/girls . I should have put a pic of the lighting.I used a short string of small led
lights that run off batteries, The switch housing is 1/8” thick and fit nicely below the bottom panel. the lights
themselves are are glued just out of sight below the bottom tray ledge.
wildwood feel free to steal at will :)

Very impressive box. I like the results of all the choices you made. Box elder is beautiful.
