Let me start, by saying I don’t make mistakes, I make adjustments. I made a lot of adjustments on this project.
This was going to be the door for a small cabinet (one of 2). I dadoed the siddes of the cabinet in to the top and bottom after I made the doors. You got it the doors were 3/4” to long. The whole project got shoved in a corner to gather dust.
One day I pulled the doors out and looked at them. Then looked at them again, and saw a mirror, but I thought 2 mirrors would look strange. Then I looked at a clock I was wworking on and said why not. The frame is 1” QSWO with a half lap, and walnut square plugs on all the joints.
I like using different woods so I added the walnut iner frame This where I got down to one door. I had small piece of rosewood verrnier (I think it is) which I glued to a piece of 1/4” mdf with oak on the back. I don’t like numbers on a clock, and this was to small to use brass organ reeds,so I found some QS oak in my TBD box glued them toghter andd cut out 1/4 circles. Then i notch them and put walnut insertss in
I started with 16, used double faced tape
, tried to run them rhru the planner ended with 8 I could use, I still have 4 left, so I guess I’ll have to make another clock. I still have the 2 small cabinets to make doors for.
As always thanks for looking.
-- Joel, People ask what I make. I tell them I make sawdust, and now and then a nice box or frame,or clock, or lamp pops out.
