Project Information

My wife is extremely talented and very artistic. Recently she was commissioned to make some home decor signs and I was roped / volun-told that I was required to help.

I was responsible for the woodworking. There's not really a lot going on here as the frames were not to take away from the signs.

The signs are hand painted and lettered on 1/4 inch birch ply and the frames are 3/4 inch oak that have been stained with Minwax's Ebony color. A very light stain was all that was required per my artist wife. She was responsible for the staining and she consistently does a fine job.

The sign blanks are 24×24 inches and the oak frames were made to fit. Simple 45 degree miters cut on my Laguna Platinum table saw and a 1/4 inch dado cut on the same machine. The frames are joined with glue and pin nails and reinforced with the brass look L plates. A saw tooth picture hanger is nailed on the back at the center of the top frame member.

Our client is very happy with the completed result.

Thanks for looking!

Nice work, I especially like the "Beautiful Chaos" one - it kind of fits our house.

Another great collaboration from your household, Mike! Just looking at the first image I thought these were to be set on a table - as they only look to be about 6" squares. Boy, was that off! LOL Thanks for sharing.
