Project Information
A little background - started out making bandsaw boxes to give to family & friends. As I got better I contacted a local gallery to see if they'd consider carrying my work. I did not want to do shows & get so busy it turned into a "job" versus enjoying the work. Added another gallery a year ago. Have not posted in a while since most of the boxes were a variation of what I've done before.
Last Fall l did decide to do one art/craft show… inside & limited hours over 2 days. I was thinking I may do that event again this year but they changed the format & focus to lower price points more weekend crafters.
So a few local artist are doing a "pop up market" next month for limited hours over 2 days, again inside. So I've made & delivered boxes to supply the 2 galleries; then built these for the "market". Probably spread the work over 5 months or so when temps were reasonable. There's some different designs in this group that I hadn't done.
You may have seen the great boxes Dick (LJ "Recycle1943") posted earlier this month. I did not get to the depth he did, but had a couple about 5 1/2" deep. I agree with Dick that it increases the degree of complexity.
Woods used are Walnut, Cherry & Wormy Maple. Finish usually 3-4 coats of 2lb cut non wax shellac & 2-3 coats of Arm-R-Seal.
If nothing sells I have plenty of stock for next year. Thanks for looking.
