Project Information

Latest project is an open segmented bowl I built for a niece. Bowl is appro. 4 1/2 inches high by 9 3/4 inches in Dia. Second attempt. First attempt blew out the side due to a failure of glue surface. I corrected the defect by decreasing the gap from 2% to 1% giving me more glue edge to edge surface. Woods used are walnut, yellowheart, Purpleheart, Wenge, maple, bloodwood and Cherry. Center stone is Desert Jasper. Bowl has 48 segments per layer and is 18 layers high. I designed it using Segment Pro and glued it up using Tom Lohman's indexing system. Hope you like it.

Wowzers! Nice! I have a book on segmented turning, but haven't made anything yet, because of project backlog.
