A friend asked if I could make a showcase for his Eddie Van Halen replica guitar. He specified that the neck hanger had to be a resin cast hand that he got online. I chose curly maple to compliment the wildness of the guitar, and carved an arm to serve as attachment of the hanger to the case. The front is glass framed in curly maple, mounted with hidden SOSS hinges and a magnetic catch, and the back plywood is covered in black velvet on corkboard for him to pin his autographed photos and play bills. For me this was an exercise in precision mitering and dovetailed corner splines. I used scraps of claro walnut for the splines.

Wow! Beautifully done.
