Pencil Bowl

My first attempt using and turning resin. My daughter sent me a picture of a pencil bowl and asked if I could make one. I told her I had no idea how to do that, and then went to work. It’s not perfect, but the look on my daughters face when she opened it for her birthday was priceless!

It turned out great!
Gotta love that attitude….

I told her I had no idea how to do that, and then went to work.

I’m sure she’ll treasure that bowl and pass it along…. instant heirloom.
Great job!

Good on you for doing what you needed to do to make your Daughter happy. I’d not seen this resin and pencils a few days ago, I think they call this trending.

Really love the knob! The whole thing looks great. So, how many pencils did it take to make it?

Super job. Seeing all the sides of the pencils looks better than just seeing the ends.

Thank you for the comments! I believe it was about 100 pencils cut into four pieces and I sharpened one end of each piece. I mounted a small sharpener in the lathe chuck to speed up the process, worked great. They were the cheapest colored pencils I could find. One thing I learned is that sanding the bowl smears the colors. I had to turn it after sanding to clean it up again, then a coat of clear spray can lacquer. Thanks again for the nice comments!
