Anniversary gift for my wife. Twelve drawers. Carcase is oak from the big box store, joined with pinned rabbets, the pins being 3/16 brass. Top and bottom are 3/4”, sides are 1/2. I probably should have used 1/4 inch brass pins, but I was worried about things splitting. With the 3/16 and the amber shellac I used as a finish, it’s hard to see the brass.

The dimensions are 18” x 12” x 6 3/4”. Each drawer has about 8” x 6” x 1 1/4”. Front and back are oak, sides are maple, the drawer slides on the carcase are maple, glue-nailed in place with pin nails. Drawer bottoms are 1/8 inch baltic birch plywood. Drawers are lined with this sticky-backed velvet stuff I got off Amazon.

Took me three tries to come up with drawer pulls. I looked for “store bought” ones, but if I liked them, they were horribly expensive. Initially made some with Walnut, but couldn’t make them with any consistency. Then tried to make some pendant pulls with some of that same Walnut. Parts were just too small to keep things consistent. So finally made some with oak and brass pins epoxied in place. I rounded the tip of the pins and drove them into the handles so they protrude just over 1/16”.

Great job. Im guessing you used a spacer block to “set” the handles all at same depth?

Love oak, my favorite wood to work, because its demanding, like your wife is gonna be for you to put some goodies in that box.

But Amazon is evil, didnt ya know!
