Project Information

This is one machine with two booms and buckets. It is made of poplar lumber and 1/8th and 1/4trbaltic birch plywood, copper wire(railings, hydraulic lines and grab bars), 1000+ #2, #4, #6 and #8 wood screws one old roller skate(The wheels were used for the turn table), a case and a half of Cat yellow paint, real glass, 3.16th rubber brake line and a lot of imagination. The real machine breaks down to 8 truck loads to move from site to site. My model breaks down in the same parts. I took photos and measurements of the real machine(200+ photos) It is 8ft 6in long when it reaches out. In the parked position it is approximately 40in high and 36in wide. Enjoy.

That is a magnificent example of detailed modelling hook".

As htl stated, one needs to upscale to get in that extra detail… The downside is you have to reserve a bedroom to accommodate the case that will keep the dust of it… hmmm, however, being a operational Cat shovel, it should be able to self clean.

IMHO, such an effort deserve a helluva lot more build photos!!!!

That could be used on a movie set and be completely believable! As others have already mentioned, that is absolutely amazing. I'd love to see more build photos and maybe one with you standing next to it. Have someone call your local news and I bet they come to see and review it. At least they would in my area. Congrats on your DT3
