Cedar Chest For My Son's Wedding

My son has decided to marry his college sweetheart. It’s going to interesting since he is in the Navy and stationed in Japan but they believe they can make it work so I am on board with it.
When I was in the early stages of planning this thing I talked to a friend of mine about needing to find the cedar to build it out of. A few days later he came hauling in a bunch of boards that he had found somewhere. They had been stacked outside and were not in the best of shape ..but hey, they were free…lol. Here is the result. 20×40. Finished with Minwax clear gloss polyurethane. Hope they like it as much as I enjoyed building it.

Ivan- thank you sir.

Hoss- thank you buddy. Her mom booked a venue somewhere over in your neck of the woods. Still a tad south in Kingston but close… Wonder if the boy might rather go fishing at “lake hoss” instead of all this noise…lol

L2L- thanks Lee. Was a hoot to build

Tony- thank you sir. They are getting married on 12/20 so I will still have to get her a Christmas gift. Wonder if she would like to have a woodshaver inspired pizza peel???

Falatocpa- that you sir. I thought it made it a little more personal with it. Also have a nice little 4×2 brass engraved plaque to put on it as well.

Well done Buster, it looks great. Maybe a traveling chest would of been a good idea. LOL. Great job transforming that used cedar to new life. Nothing like having the shop smell of cedar for weeks. Congratulations on your new daughter in law. My daughter is getting married early next year.

Dave- thank you sir. Good point on the traveling chest. Hopefully she will wait until he gets a stateside posting before she moves in with him.

Another fine job by BusterB! Very nice, buddy, very nice. I’ve no idea how you routed out the “B’, but it looks perfect. That’s beyond my ability with a router, way beyond. With that “B” and all the knots around it, the front couldn’t look better. Beautiful job, Buddy
