Whats the saying, always a bridesmaid never the bride. Yet another cousin getting married…im not salty lol.

The main box body is slopped in at 5 degrees, its suttle but gives it a curtain elegance.
First time using padauk, great wood to work with I highly recommend it!

Tried using shellac for the first time…it was not as easy as people say, found it pretty horrible actually.
Im definitely not using it right. Sanded it off and used spray on poly, so much easier.

Padauk, wenge and tiger maple.

Great looking box prill’... I usually steed clear of commenting on boxes, however, it does have that subtle difference that sucked me in.

That’s probably ‘cause you watched too many YouTubes by cowboys.

Much to the chagrin of my mate Carl, I have made this video of the correct shellacking method available. The primary aim was to provide a reference for me and his students and it was slapped together impromptu, no rehearsal, edit free and only 1 coffee break… the only compromise was the dinning table, as it was 7°C in his workshop at the time. It goes on for 1:28h, and at times drifts, however, if you download it and watch it in installments, you may pick up a few hints before deciding to abandon the art of shelacking.

Very Nice! Just the right amount of finger prints to make it personal. See you are in Wetaskiwin, Kiefer is just down the road in Blackfalds, recommend you check out his stuff and perhaps even give him a call, he may growl at times but seldom bites.

What an exceptional use of that tiger maple. The design and wood selection is stunning!

Such a nice combination of woods, the little feet are winners, and that pulled in waist. All together it’s a really great box. Nice job.

Thanks for sharing.

I forgot to mention- dont give up on the shellac. Its the best, though some may argue. You might try thinning your cut to see if you get better results.
