A thank you for a generous friend Dick Byrd in Ohio, USA.

All recycled timber to honour recycle1943…

Wooden toy quad bike or ATV is made from recycled Spotted Gum, body [my builder friend gave me an old hardwood bearer which I cleaned up in my thicknesser],
Australian Red Cedar, sides [a friend gave me some offcuts of very old architraves out of the turn of the century home in Bathurst]
and Beech, wheels [thank you to another friend, Chief Tiff].

With two coats of homemade Wipe-On-Poly mixture [30% Tung Oil, 40% Clear Satin Polyurethane, 30% Turps].

The pattern is based on the free plan from Tony on his website..

Great job and looks like it would be fun to build.

The generosity on LumberJocks is heart warming.
One needs to keep it going, even at times just “paying it forward”.
The world in general, is too much about me and what I can get for myself.
The folk here have definitely not followed that selfish philosophy and I absolutely appreciate that in spades, thank you.

Another great job. Are you working 24/7 to churn out all these great toys?

Nice tribute Crowie!
I agree also with your life style comments,
Just spent a month with no 1 son and grand kids they were very appreciative of the mixed bag of help, taking kids to school walking the dog, fixing stuff, helping with his 2nd job electric bikes doing deliveries builds etc.

Had to come home as Smiths needed more work done.
Next I will be off the Dyraaba to help Anthm27 with his pump issue.

Retired life is so boring!!

Correction on the timber in the body of the quad bike!

I just had my builder friend Ray drop in on his way home for a cuppa and chat.

I mentioned the timber question I’d asked about the old hardwood beam.

Well Ray did a close inspection along with smell test of the piece I’d cleaned up, with the resolution “IT’S TALLOWWOOD”
