Hi folks, first post here. Looks like my kind of place. :)

This project took nearly 2 years for me to build (because…. reasons) but was completed last week and has already been the focal point of a lot of family and guest meals. From bottom to top:

  • 3D printed feet to protect the flooring, incorporating felt pads
  • 3/8” x 5” steel flatbar, welding by me and my kids
  • A 3” x 10” old growth fir beam, the former mantelpiece of my wife’s childhood home
  • A tight grain fir top, with an engineered wood “core” for added stability

All this tips the scales at 350lbs… Good thing all the pieces break down individually! Not that it’s going to move for a long, long time.

I also made a video of the project. I’m a newbie YouTuber so appreciate any likes or subscribes you can throw my way – if you feel it’s warranted of course!

Thanks for this awesome place, looking forward to your comments and feedback!

Thanks for the compliments pottz. I love the imagery of my grand kids at the table!

I’m happy to jump in and share what little knowledge I’ve acquired over the past 42 years! ;)

The steel legs or the video legs around the 5min mark? LOL. Thank you everyone!
