Hmm, Lowes sells a line of “Project Boards” in Pine, Poplar, and Oak. Picked out a few 1/2” x 5-1/2” x 24” boards. Cut one in half, after squaring the ends….11-1/2” long. Cut a second board into a couple 6” long blanks…had some “leftover 5mm Luann plywood….used the plywood for the lid’s panel, and for the bottom of the box….which set in grooves milled with a Stanley #45. There was also a couple extra grooves…last photo shows how the lid was separated from the box….

Corner joints are hand cut 1/4” finger/box joints. Found some hardware at Hobby Lobby. Stain is called “Gunstock”,and there is 2 coats of clear gloss poly over that. Box is to store tools in the shop…may add a rack inside for drill bits, tap & dies, or hole saws…trying to get things to where I can stack things up on a shelf in the shop…and keep dust off of them.

have a second such box started…as soon as this box is out of the way. Cross cuts are done on a Mitersaw Saw..

The Cordless kind. There is a blog about this build. Thanks for looking in…

Another master piece from hand tool wizard? Cool!
Grain on that box is funky everywhere you look. I like it.
