I’ve noticed that I am doing more and more “quick and easy” type projects as I progress in woodworking. don’t know if that’s because I’m getting lazy or if my time is becoming more in demand.
Either way, here it is. our basement flooded back in the spring so we are now putting things back together and this was on the project list. very simple two post construction, used T&G boards for the inside parts and a 3/4 pine plank for the cap. all lumber was sourced from the HD, all in all it was less than $40 in material. finished with a shou sugi ban burn wirebrushed and sanded with 220. some semi gloss spar (to make it easy to dust) and voila’. the wife loves
the look, and it goes with the “old world nautical” thing she wants to do in that room, so win!
I’m a big fan of shou sugi ban technique and am intending to use it more in future projects. thanks for looking!
