I sometimes find it tricky to spot the difference between mahogany and rosewood, especially when the mahogany is a deep orange/red like this one. Not sure why but making this ring was very satisfying.

Real nice job on that ring, Lynne. Do you make them to order or sell them at shows?

Cheers, Jim

Thanks everyone :)

Jim – I only sell through Etsy at present. Some rings can be made to order; because I work mostly with materials taken from waste streams, it just depends on what I have in stock.

Yet another beautifully crafted ring, and I agree with the earlier compliments on the colours.
Well done Lynne.

Lynne I really like this one. How many pieces are there in this ring? I’m not sure what you started with and how you got the colors. Can you explain?

Hey John, there are two pieces. I turned the mahogany ring black and the laminated blank (I get mine from FrogBlanks, https://frogblanks.com). Glued them together using epoxy and sat overnight. Then put it in the lathe and turned it :)

How’s the finger doing?

How s the finger doing?

- kiwilynne

Thanks for the response.

The finger is coming along pretty good. I had to wait a week after the emergency room doctor sewed it up the first time to have a hand surgeon finish the job.

It is on my dominant hand and I really can’t do anything until it heals a little further and I’m going stir crazy doing basically nothing. I heal pretty fast usually, so I’m hoping for the best. Thanks for asking.
