Centerpiece candle box

Here’s a design I’ve posted in the past…this one I made to be used as a centerpiece for a friend with a new dining room table.
It’s made from a crazy board of spalted birdseye maple that I came across and just had to buy.
As with any heavily spalted wood, I had to work around some fragile areas to get enough stable wood for the project.
It measures approximately 9” tall by 6” wide…I bevel the top on my table saw using a tall fence and attach with figure 8 fasteners. The glass is clear seedy from Delphi glass…gives off a pretty cool rustic glow when lit.

It’s been a fun summer but it’s good to be getting back into the shop.

Thanks for looking

The spalted maple is fantastic and your work turned out beautiful.

GREAT LOOKING PROJECT. . . .Exactly what I have been needing for a friend’s house warming. . . Any chance you might be willing to part with any plans you might have?

I really like that, and before too long LOML will like her copy of it. She uses a candle out on our newly redone back porch. Complains all the time the slightest breeze blows it out. I’ve actually been looking at pics recently for this, and now I’ve found it.

Thanks for posting

Tom, I like it. The spalted stock adds a lot to the design.

I find it very complex and complicated to make, but you have made it excellent!
