Entry/couch table

A family member asked me to make a entry/couch table with this specific rope detail. I pretty much had free reign on what to do and this is what I came up with. A 3-legged table made out of a butternut slab. My chisels are dull and nicked up so my through tenon and leg attachments weren’t great. The legs are two pieces glued up and then routed with a 45 to make it look circular.
Thank for lookin’.

Wellll – I would be happy to talk to anybody that criticized this endeavor in any negative way. This is one of the most innovative out of the box construction methods to date (imho) and butternut to boot – nearly a non existant lumber in my area.

You get one GREAT BIG A Plus

I also like the look, that rope adds a TON of visual interest.

I would have never thought of that, glad you did. It will be a real talking piece and give them pride.

I like the pair of legs very much. The octagonal legs are just the right proportion. (sometimes couch table legs look too thin) I also like what you did with the rope. Pretty artistic.

Work of art i say! I bought a jig from Lee Valley tools to sharpen my chisels.
