Picked up a piece of Mango wood from a trip In Hawaii. Mango is extremely difficult to work with. I suggest to stay away from it. This bowl caught every time I tried to put a gouge in it. It finally snapped the foot off the bottom so I just cut what was left off and sanded the base flat. Very bulky and not that pretty

Mango is troubling to work with, but it has such great color variations that I still find it worth the trouble. I think the bowl looks great.

That’s real pretty piece. That is a good warning about mango. I had a person order a job from mango and I talked her out of it because of the price. Now I’m glad I did!!

cheers, Jim

Mango is a beautiful timber mate. Sweet turning when you turn green.
