This box is about 15cm X 30cm. Made of Sapelle and olivewood. Sliding tray and bottom are lined with plush padded velvet. Finish is 2 x my L.O. blend, then beeswax.

There’s something like a dozen ideas there that I’m going to have to steal at some point. Very nice work!

Go for it, Dave!!! I mean, that octagonal box you did back in ´18 is phenomenal.

The sides, which are continuous grain, btw, I did with a 45º V bit in a router table, and I stole that idea from someone else.

The top is totally my design. So are the feet, though Im sure that design has been done before.

Thanks, Brian! It’ll be a while (we just moved, so no shop at the moment), but the continuous grain sides with the texture (I’m thinking a combination plane will be my tool of choice). And I really liked the angled feet. Small touch, but unique!

Very interesting design Brian and love on the wood combination.
The details you chose for the top with the olive wood are a real eye catcher .

So many points of visual interest. Yes it is a box, but also a showcase of different ideas. I think Dave nailed it, gonna be some ideas used from this one. Plus I have a weak spot for interiors being finished on boxes, and your duplex slider is pretty cool.

Thanks for posting, and congrats on your 3.

Thanks SteveN. I agree, interior should be just as interesting as exterior.

Excellent work and sweet design.
I especially like your “interior should be just as interesting as exterior” standard.
Overall, its a beautiful box.
Well done!
