New Zealand river matai, much darker than normal matai. One of the things I love about using river wood is that it’s a more sustainable source of wood, because no new trees are cut. This particular ring looks very dark until you get it out into the sun, where it sports a gorgeous copper-gold shine.

Yet another winner Lynne. Beautifully done. I guess that it must take you two to three days, including a good cure time, to produce this quality.
Nice work.

Very nice. How long do you need to make one?

Plus I applaud you using the sinkers of old. Renew, reuse, and let the other trees grow.

If only I had the extra time on my hands I probably would!

Steve – it depends on all my deadlines at any given time, but I like two to three days, including a good cure.
