Having seen a lot of these I just had to make a pair of them myself. My top is not hinged it sits on top and makes the whole thing easier to move. The second one I made goes to a charity auction for an assisted living home and if it does not bring what I think is a fair price I will be buying it back.

Thanks, I know they are pretty common projects and mine is nothing special but it was fun to make. The purple was from the red wine and is pretty striking.

Personally, I would call that very special.
Nicely done

Nice work. I like that you left the inside of the barrel visible. It is a cool look.

I’m pretty sure the inside is not visible although I agree it would be interesting to add glass to that last picture so you could see inside.

Very nice. I built 2 of these as well and I must say that I like the design of your feet more so than any other I have seen including my own. Wish you would have posted this sooner :)
Mine had wine in it as well and this same purple color. I hit it with high gloss poly in the inside to really make it shine and to be a very slick finish for blanket storage etc.
I kept one and sold the other for $200 (which essentially paid for both less labor). How much is enough for you to part with yours at the auction?

About 5 days to finish, wait times were due to the finish drying. This was a 63 gallon barrel, adds to width.

It will have to go for at least 200 which would be break even minus the labor.
