Project Information
I wanted to do a beer tote that would be kind of undercover, so you could carry it around without drawing attention. People would see a fellow carrying his wife's make-up case like a good husband while said husband was smiling to himself with the secret only he knew. I searched Ebay until I found the perfect case for this (though I did end up buying 3 of them before I was done…). I over-complicated the original design with way too many moving parts, cams, levers, etc. I realized that I was dooming my efforts and thought about simplifying it a bit in order to finish in time. Cooler packs were a necessity so I built a PVC base with a well for holding 2 packs and limiting the effects of condensation ruining the case. That required a way to access the bottom so I ordered the shortest drawer slides I have ever seen! It was still a bit difficult to reach my big paws into the case so removable beer holders came to mind and the Official Beer Cartridge system was born. 3 beers in a lightweight rack that could be cooled in the refrig and easily loaded into the case for a quick getaway! Birch was used for all the wooden parts.
When I found out who my swap was going to, the T-Shirt seemed to design itself. What could be better than a green camo-sleeved shirt for a guy with a green cape? Then, when they opportunity to include some Bacon Beer presented itself, I knew the label had to include a Superhero who mimicked our illustrious leader, complete with green cape!
