Project Information

Ok for the 2019 LJ Beer Swap I pulled together a Wood 'n Leather Beer Chest. Black Mesquite and Angelim ends and Tooled veg tanned leather front and back/top. The button is turned from Applewood provided by a fellow LJ'er. The handle is Aluminum and American Elm. Finished with 3 coats of poly for the wood and a couple applications of neatsfoot oil on the leather.

That's a sharp-looking beer chest, Bill! A step above the usual tote.

The leather adds a whole different feel to the chest. Sturdy and stylish!!!

Heck, I might even use it for a lunch box, or a small picnic basket (only occasionally - I wouldn't want the beer swap police to show up and take it away from me for mis-use).

Lol… Good uses all or a good tool tote. One of the prototypes is going to hold my leather tools.

Sensational work Bill, Real original, The leather work is great along with the exotic species of woods you used.
It sounds ridiculous but I would love to have a smell of it. I can almost sense that cow hide smell from here.
Hand craftsmanship. Real good work.
I am sure Earl will put it to good use.
After sending me his superbly crafted mosaic coasters Earl definitely deserves such a fine gift.
Regards
Anthony

Very creative and different Bill! I love it when people expand their horizons a bit. I definitely did not see this one coming!

Don't worry Earl! Just proclaim in a loud voice, "Get thee behind me Kenny!" and you'll be just fine!

This definitely was an extension of my horizons. I've been meaning to do some leather work for a long time (hammer engraving too) I actually had to BUY some new tools ;-)

Bill, you covered all the bases with this one. Wood, leather and metal. Nicely done and they all seem to go together with each other. Nicely done!

I love it Bill! Super unique idea to a well-explored tote arena. I would seriously carry is as a lunch box :)

So you're safe Earl, I'll allow it. Just feed it a beer now and then to remind it of its real purpose.
