Duct Collector

When I started woodworking 5 years ago, in the basement of our old house, I knew dust collection was a must have. So I made a traffic cone cyclone. While building it I thought, I’ll just buy a shop vac for the suction side, until I stumbled over my leaf blower. Built a filter box with the leaf blower held on top with plumbers strapping for easy removal the once a year I need to use it for its intended purpose. In the new shop I installed 2 1/2” piping with blast gates and a remote starter. It was a temporary solution but it is working better than expected so I have no immediate plans to change it.

That’s the reversible one correct? Mine is a similar model. I have a dust collector, but I connect mine blower/leaf collector to my system and use it to vacuum the floors. I connect via the rectangular port you seem to be using as exhaust. The added boost from the blower motor really does the job, but I do have to make sure I dont have a lot of dangerous objects on the floor.

I was wondering, how long do you leave yours running? I have a second wynn filter, double gifted, and was thinking of making a shop air filter. If it can run long enough, your idea of making it removable could work for that as well.

I could connect like I do my current one, but I like your housing idea a bit better.

Rated airflow is about 375cfm. Not great but good enough for one machine at a time.

Yes it is the blower/vacuum model.
Most of the time it runs short times for table saw cuts but I also use it for sanding etc. which can be upto 20+ min. My first one packed up a month ago when the bearing went. Used it for 5 years with no issues.

I have that same leaf blower/vac. The metal impeller is great, but the thing is a screamer. Does a great job clearing the driveway. I’m glad I’m not the only one who though about using the leaf blower. It’s great to see it implemented. Strong Work.
