Continuous Arm Windsor Chair

Here is a Windsor chair I made in a class with one of the best chair-makers alive, Curtis Buchanan. He really is a great teacher and I feel fortunate to have been able to learn from him.
The chair is white oak riven from the log, maple for the legs, and eastern white pine for the seat.

The finish is black over Red milk paint, with an oil finish after burnishing.

Thanks for looking!

Very beautiful, for sure. Great work. Is that continuous arm bent wood? Steam?

That is really nice work, Tyler. A little green with envy of your tutelage under Curtis Buchanan. Sounds like a great opportunity.

Just watching his YouTube channel, Curtis seems like someone I would be honored just to meet. He is a true American Master. Working with him in person must have been a real joy. Congratulations on a beautiful chair.

Thanks,

Working with Curtis I was better than I hoped, he is just a great person to be around, fun, generous and relaxed, it makes for an amazing week. It’s great to walk away with a chair, but the experience was the best part. Every time I look at the chair I think of the week I had, and what I learned and experienced.

That’s a good looking chair. Sits comfortably too, I imagine.
