This double bench seat measures approximately 3 feet x 1 ,
Its three species of all doweled, glued and clamp construction. (44 dowels in total)
The top is laminated Ash with Walnut strips. Legs are Oak. The laminated top is screwed to the base.
It was inspired by a piece of furniture I saw in Japan last week.
It will sit near the front door, good to sit on whilst taking shoes on and off.
Some pics of the construction include: laminating, smoothing and flattening of the bench top, the legs cut and dowel drilled pre and post assembly.
Thanks for looking and reading.
Kind Regards
Anthony

My, but that’s an attractive seat, Anth. And it’s not every day I say that to another man. ;-)

Thanks Dave, dont worry I get what you mean.
Thanks Dick, yes my doweling Jig gets a work out, I love it. Its been a game changer for me in my small workshop. A little fiddly at times but gives excellent results.
Hows your one going?

Very eye appealing Anthony. It will make you feel welcome as soon as you walk into the house. About the walnut stripes, I love them. I built tables for our living room years ago that would match the bench perfect.
PS. I don’t take my shoes off when I enter the house, my feet are too sensitive. LOL.

Lovely bench Anthony! I love Walnut and Oak together and the Ash fits in with the two to make a lovely piece. I agree with the others, the angles are what really raises this from a utility bench to a fine furniture piece. Well done man!
