Corn hole boards

I started by “staining” the boards dark blue but they turned out splotchy and stripey. So I sanded off the stain and was left with the grain showing through with the dark grain pattern. I decided I really liked that look but wanted to take it one step further so I got some turquoise paint mixed it with my tintable stain and went over the boards again with a very light coating. The results are pretty cool. I still need to add a few dozen coats of poly but I like how they turned out.

Watch how smoothly you Poly them up, or your bags will just go ZIP, and slide right off.

That is a different look. I like the color, it’s just that I think of a cornhole board as your personal advertisement for who you work for, what you do, or what school/team you root for. So it would also need a decal. Put a big badge for the local department on it, or a team name, or mascot, and that look underneath would sell some boards.

Thanks for posting.

Great looking boards. I have a set in my projects that I used 3 or 4 coats of Polycrylic on them and they seem to be holding up real well.
