After building 3 32 Chevys over the years I think I finally made one that has the feel of a real HOT ROD.

Here's the blog.

This is a Toys and Joys plan, one of their older simpler plans, but it has every thing you need to get the shape and size just right.
I lowered the roof 1/2”. [chopped]
Then dropped the sides so they were beside the frame which lowered it another 1/2”. [channeling]
That’s what helps gives Hot Rods their mean lowered looks, of course the fat tires also has something to do with it. LOL
This was made out of wood from the scrap bin, had some nice wide, thick Fir which is not a wood I would normally use to build a model but to my surprise it turned out pretty good and as it needed a lot a shaping the soft fir was easy to sand and get just right.

I guess I’m old school but prefer the fatter rubber to the now more popular thinner rubber tires.

This also was the car this model was based on.

It’s finished with Danish oil in the natural shade so helps hide any super glue smudges as they both cover the same and also hides any wood that would suck up a stain and leave blotches.
This was a really fun build and thanks for checking it out!
