“Commissioned” to construct a custom built-in cabinet in our dining room to help address the cupboard storage deficiency in our adjacent kitchen. The unit also acts as a sideboard/hutch and serves well when we entertain family and friends. My wife wanted something taller than a standard kitchen counter height.

The cabinet boxes are birch ply. The face frames, doors and drawer fronts are rift/quarter sawn red oak. Drawer boxes are poplar and joined using locking rabbet joints (1/2” sides and 1/2” ply bottoms. Top is made of Walnut. Drawers and doors are soft close. The door/drawer pulls were purchased from Lee Valley.

The dimensions of the unit with the top is 39.5”H x 21”D x 104”L. It took me 5 months to complete this project.

Enjoy!

Jon,

The cabinet is really nice. That’s a lot of extra storage. I’m sure your wife is super pleased.
