Saw a figured box on the site about a year ago and thought I would give it a shot. Took a lot of sanding to get this one done but finally got through it. Purpleheart and spalted maple jewelry box. Fun and interesting build. Roughed out with angle grinder and Dremel tool and finished with a whole lot of hand sanding. Had to do two, of course, one for each daughter, so that one is posted next.

Beautiful. Not sure I would have the patience for all that sanding.

Beautiful box. What are the dimensions and what did you use for the lining? Thanks for posting.

You did well on this. I think you accomplished what you were after. Well done.

Thanks jocks! A whole lot of patience in this one. Leaf, it’s 12×7x5.5 tall. Bottom is lined with heavy black felt.

My fingers act just thinking about the sanding! I always loved the shaping Andy does on his boxes, yours are on my list of examples!

Similar to the other box, but I can clearly see a common snapper’s back in this top. Even before I read the text I thought Turtle Back. Again the mirror and well appointed interior. Another winner.

Thanks for sharing.
