Yes, I am a nerd. I’m in two different tabletop RPG groups that require substantial amounts dice rolling.

I had some cherry and walnut cutoffs from another project that I am working on and decided to throw these together. Found and resawed a bit of paduak for color. Everything is held together with CA glue (even the brass corners – I didn’t have a drill bit small enough, so they’re in a little bit of wood, but mostly CA glue). The corners of the tray are mitered with brass corner covers. Butt joints were used on the dice tower because I liked the look of the dark walnut along the sides of the paduak.

That’s craft foam in the bottom of the tray to keep the noise down. And I used the laser engraver recommended by Andybb in this thread to burn in my mustache logo.

My only requirements were that the tray was large enough for printer paper (I didn’t realize until afterward that the D&D player’s handbook was the same size) and that the dice tower fit snugly in the tray.

The hardest part was getting the cherry planed down to 1/4”. It’s pretty figured so I got a lot of tear out. I don’t do enough production work to warrant a shelix head for my Dewalt 735 planer. However, the walnut planed up nicely.
