Made from walnut, maple, and a veneered maple panel for the bottom.
Features keyed miters set at 10 degrees.
Really like the knob versus the other types of pulls I’ve made on other boxes.
Finished in lacquer and lined in ivory velvet.

Nice looking box, good grain wrap, and I like that knob too. I’m just scared to ask how you made it though. From 3 sides of it I see no problem making it off a longer piece, it’s just that 4th side that makes me a bit scared. I hope it was the offcut.

Thanks! My first try at this one. I’ll figure out another way but here’s how this one went. Two tips on the table saw set at 17 degrees making a long strip. Two cuts on compound miter saw at 17 degrees. And yes the second cut was the off fall. Drilled 1/4” holes on the knob and lid for a dowel

Those 10 degree splines look distinguishing. Nice job on the box.

If you use resawn lengths of wood you can continue the grain across all four sides of a box. I have an old ShopNotes magazine which featured an article about the process: “Resawing for Perfect Boxes.”

If I ever finish that hope-less chest I’m working on I want to learn that technique. It seems tricky.

Nope like anything else. Do it a couple times and you got it down
