(A Rather Small) Fly Fishing Net

One of my best and favorite clients requested a special favor recently. She was planning to attend her daughter’s baby shower in a few weeks and asked if I would build a to-scale landing net as a gift for her daughter’s baby boy.

It will likely never touch the water but it was a fun project for me too. Scaled down or no, I learned it takes almost as much time to build a “mini” as it does the real thing!

Assuming he follows in his Dad and Granddad’s footstep, he’ll be a third generation fly fisherman. Maybe he’ll want a full scale version someday …

Cool fishing net. It should be cherished forever. Most grandchildren get a rattle from the grandpa but you honored the family tradition.

Thanks, Dave. I probably wouldn’t have posted this project except the picture of the grandchild holding the net is exceptional. If I ever make a catalog, or website, that’ll definitely be one of the pictures I use.
