The first piece of furniture we bought after we got married was a four drawer dresser a la This End Up. Our headboard for the bed was not of the same style but had been a gift so we just kept using it- for 30 plus years.
This year we decided to junk it as its particle board nature was showing through. I went and bought $45.00 worth of 1×4 pine and whipped this one up in an evening. It matches our dresser and we gain a foot of floor space in the room. (The old headboard contained a bookcase.)
I finished it with boiled linseed oil.

Nice work Dave, this looks very nice. I suppose that if you got your 1X4s at the big box store, you spent a good deal of time looking for straight & flat stock. Was worth it though, very nice.

Actually, I didn’t have to look very hard. I rejected a few that had big ugly knots, but the ones I found that day were all straight and true. Lucky I guess.
