I was recently given a very pretty length of New Zealand tawa, with a lot of flecking. Turned a ring from a small piece and two flecks positioned themselves perfectly :)

I’m also getting a lot better at putting veneer cores inside turned rings hurrah!

Hi Lynne, another nice looking ring. This is the first time that I have heard of Tawa, so I was curious to find out more. Good description of it at . . . http://www.nzwood.co.nz/forestry-2/tawa/
Thanks for posting.
Have a great day.
John.

Real nice ring, Lynne

Hi John, now in the description they should put: Tawa is an excellent furniture timber, its strength properties make it suitable for handles , rods and RINGS, and it is very good for turnery across the grain such as in door knobs.

cheers, Jim
