This was a fun and humbling project. This is a custom plaque I done recently for all the Marines that are a part of my life, here and beyond. This wood started out its life in France in a Forest where the US Marines earned their nick name “Devil Dogs” (Teufel Hunden) while fighting the German forces in Belleau Wood.
When I received this plank it had an aweful bend in it that I had scratched my head over several times. So I cut the bend out and biscuit joined the 2 straight pieces. The remaining wood will be eventually turned into challenge coin displays for my Marine buddies.
Please contact me if you may know how I get my hands on some wood like this. The friend I received this piece from can’t get a hold of anymore.

That is a great piece and the story makes it even better. Is that done with a laser?

Actually, the image CAD cut vinyl. Applied between several coats of Polycrylic.
Laser engraving will be my next hopeful purchase.
