Project Information

This is an exercise in " What The Heck "
I was commissioned to make some bowls for a client for his Christmas list. I was at liberty to create, design and have my way with any and all lumber at hand. So, I did but I'm not nearly done yet. The first batch of 14 are out of the shop and in the house curing.
The bowls above are all 4" (or so) high and all incorporate different tinted resins. I found myself ooohing and aaaahing as I cut and glued up the blanks then got excited again when I cut the wedges because I could see the end result before they hit the RingMaster.
Looking at the pictures above shows some nice colors involved but the pictures to follow will make some wonder "What the Heck"
I should mention that the following are the same bowls that are above. The amount of tint I put in the resin pours determine the clarity or see thru ability and of course once the tint is in, ya can't take it out - thus some are darker than others.

Thanks for looking and please - helpful hints and ideas are welcome

Thanks George, sometimes it take me longer to select the lumber than it does to mill it

Petey, it's much like your segmented bowls but with a few more glue up steps. Actually, I just counted in my head, there are up to 14 individual 'steps' of cutting, glueing and sanding before I get to 5 or 6 finish coats inside and out on each bowl
Gheeeezz, that's almost depressing when I think about it that way - but the end result is WAY worth it !

Thank You - my client did this 2 years ago for his customers ( 140 of them ) and they were disappointed last year when it wasn't repeated. At that time I hadn't incorporated resin yet so I'm anxious to see how they are recieved this year.
