The plans for this table came from “The New Yankee Workshop” – I watched Norm build this many years ago and I decided it would be a fun project for my bachelor son. Getting the 8 pieces precisely mitered to fit together took almost as long as the rest of the table. My tiny lathe that i bought yo turn pens was just big enough to allow me to turn the pedestal. New, for me, was laying the veneer in the center of the table, cutting in the medallion and routing the pockets on the poker side.

Nicely done. I dont envy fitting octagonal ANYTHING. I learned that on the making of an octagonal prairie style lampshade.
