Not really fine woodworking, but fun woodworking. I have a lot of trees on our property. Whenever they lose limbs, I try to make something useful from them. Lately I’ve been making hiking sticks. The 2 on the right are oak stained with General Finishes stain. One has 3 coats of teak oil. One has 3 coats of Minwax wipe on poly and wax. The left one is Juniper (I think) found on a hike in Arizona. I put paracord grips on them. And rubber chair leg feet on the bottoms.

Made a quick video of the process. https://youtu.be/uQScp6HByhQ

Great job, making canes and walking sticks IS fun woodworking! I make all of mine from trees that grow on my property (some I even grow for that specific purpose and bend them to the proper shape as they grow). How did you attach the paracord grips? Glue? Tacks? Knots?

Thanks for posting and be careful – making walking sticks can be addictive. LOL

Thanks – I saw a video on how the cub scouts make hiking sticks and wrap paracord for grips.
