Trying to use up scrap

I’ve been incorporating resin into my bowls for a while now and have been disposing of the piece that is left after I cut for the bowls.
A few days ago it occurred to me just how expensive that resin “scrap” was and how much $$ was being thrown away soooo I decided to make some cheese slicers and use up my scrap resin.
I don’t know why but picture #1 is my favorite of the batch. It’s cherry center with copper colored resin with walnut and bloodwood trim.
Picture #2 is walnut with nearly clear resin and bloodwood trim
Picture #3 is Beetle Kill Pine with green resin, walnut and bloodwood trim
Picture #4 is Pine with red resin with bloodwood and green poplar trim
Picture #5 is Beetle Kill Pine with green resin, bloodwood and greenish poplar trim
Picture #6 is a combination of BKP, cherry and cedar

I made a total of 17 cheese slicers and none are quite the same so it’ll drive ‘em crazy trying to make a decision at our next show.

  1. 2 is the only one of the 17 that has a see thru resin, the rest of them have too much tint to be translusent

I mad a few with wider resin just to see if I could – I can – lol

This one has a cherry center with green resin and walnut and purple heart trim

Thanks for looking and even my wife can’t stop me from having fun in the shop

That’s a very beautiful and creative use of scrap wood. Nicely Done!

Thanks Jerry – but the scrap is the resin I’m using up instead of tossing

Brilliant Dick,
And quite a production line you’ve set up for these. Good to use up the scrap. Hope you get some $ back.
Regards
Anthony

Very beautiful work Dick! Awesome way to use up some scraps! I say scraps but I value every little piece of wood.
