Made this whiskey cabinet as a birthday gift for my son-in-law.

I harvested the walnut from a friend’s ranch couple years ago, really like the warm color and occasional blonde sapwood threads. The door panel is made from strips of highly figured walnut with clear epoxy and turquoise granules to fill the voids.

I’ve been using Sketchup more often for these projects, which gives me some time to consider how well (or poorly) all the pieces will go together. This project wasn’t terribly complex but it did help to sketch it out and plan the build in advance.

Very nice work. I like the splines and the bevel on the door panel surround. These small details really show some artistry.

A very nicely made unit.

Walnut is way too pretty not to rescue!
