Giving it the Boot!

A bit of whimsy in the shop this week. All my tools are on double locking castors and all get moved frequently. SO I’m either kicking the release paddles or prying them up with the toe of my boot – which is destroying the toe/sole of a perfectly good set.

I stumbled across Roman-The Bootman and his carvings and realized I could make a “boot” Inspired by his work I gave it a shot. Not nearly as good but it’s a great way to save my hiking boots for hiking!

Thanks Roman :-)

I use/need a cane and think that would look so cool.
Thanks for the inspiration.

Cool!... Know the feeling… thongs (you guys may call them flip-flops) and brakes is a marriage bound for divorce… and broken nails…

That’s what I would consider a WALKING cane. You could always give somebody the BOOT with it if needed. You could use it for a ruler, it’s a FOOT long. I know, I known, I’ll lay of the puns for now. LOL. On the serious side it does look pretty sharp. Good job !!! Mel

Yes, you do need better pics Bill! I love the idea though :-) I have lots of locking casters too and could put this to use :-) I can’t tell from the pics, did you carve it or some other method?

Reminds me of Brother Francis back in 1962.. he loved to use the cane on dissident student…. Just goes to prove that corporal punishment was a failure, on ducks… I never mastered Latin!

Make sure there’s not a plastic “protector” stuck on your camera lens Bill. For some reason, on some electronics they make those overlays a perfect fit so you don’t even notice they’re there…

Ok – a couple better pics. More of a clown shoe just for fun

It’s a couple 2×4 shorts glued up then bandsawed the rough shape. Used a hatchet to refine it a bit more then a belt sander to the (more or less) final shape. Grabbed some handy spray paint (metallic grey) and glue on some laces.

I did have to cut an actual notch in the toe
