Long bow build
MaFe Hood is back in the forest…

Since I was a boy, I always wanted to build my own bow, not just a bow, but a long bow like Robin Hood. Remember dreaming I was Robin Hood, that I was shooting arrows, flying through the room and of course kissing Lady Marian.
Wake up MaFe!!!

Last year when I turned 50, I put a bow building class on my wish list and on the big day, my father came with a arrow and a gift card on a long bow class, one class was cancelled and time went on, but finally it happened.

These pictures are from the blog: https://www.lumberjocks.com/mafe/blog/129880

Pictures:
1. My bow back in the work shop.
2. The horse is ready fora day of riding.
3. Me at the tiller, happy monkey.
4. Line our instructor helping out.
5. Back in my work shop, working on details.
6. Where is that elephant?

Hope it can be to some inspiration, bows perhaps?

Best thoughts,

MaFe

Very cool. Why does it look like a crossbow in some pics? Is that required to pull the sting back?

Looks like you were having fun making some shavings!
What kind of wood? Looks like maybe hickory.
Not many things more satisfying than watching an arrow sail through the air after being launched by a longbow!
I’ve made a few bows… current projects in the works are from birch and Osage.

OK ! Looks like you may have to get some green felt out and ask somebody handy to run up a hat for you now!

6. Where is that elephant?
Sadly it happens.

Well done on the construction, Now if it was me I would need to make a stool as well to stand on to reach the grip!

Longing for the longbow. Quite the story with all the excitement of the wait. Kissing lady Marian may be still buried in that dream but with a few more drinks anything is possible. Love the bow, It’s quite a piece.
Nice work.

Well done Mafe, very cool. At least cool in woodie terms, but I am sure if my son sees this he will want one too.
